PROJECT UPDATES 

Group 41: Franklin Avenue

Franklin Avenue (Leon C. Simon Boulevard - Lakeshore Drive)

Repairs include concrete panel replacements, repairing curbs, installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps and bike lanes. *The scope of work includes sidewalk construction, where none exist. 

Apr 29:  Permanent striping is underway on Franklin Ave. and is expected to be completed today.  Travel lanes are open in both directions.

Mar 25:  Franklin Ave. traffic control remains in place as the contractor continues removal and replacement of concrete roadway sections. The Sewerage and Water Board's contractor continues replacement of the existing water main in the south bound lanes. Tie-in of the new water main to the existing water main is expected Monday evening. Once completed, the roadway contractor will switch lanes and begin pavement removal in the left lane heading south bound. Expected completion is the week if April 11. This was extended due to unexpected water and drain pipe construction. 

Feb 10: A community informational meeting to discuss the repair of Franklin Avenue from Leon C Simon Drive to Franklin Avenue is scheduled Tuesday, February 16 at UNO Lakefront Arena (south lot entrance) Privateer Room, 6801 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA  70122.  The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. 

Dec 17: Hard Rock Construction is the apparent low bidder for the project.

Nov 30: The bid letting date has been reset for December 2015. December 9, tentatively.

Oct 19: Construction is anticipated to start in March/April 2016. The bid letting has been rescheduled to take place in November 2015.

Jun 17: DOTD's Paths to Progress Program announces roadway improvements planned for Franklin Avenue, between Leon C. Simon Boulevard and Lakeshore Drive. The bid letting is scheduled for October 2015 with construction anticipated to start in March 2016. A community meeting will be held closer to the start of project. 

 

Group 40: Old Behrman Highway and LB Landry Avenue

Old Behrman Highway (Marr Avenue - LA 428)

L B Landry Avenue (Mardi Gras Boulevard - Jefferson Parish Line)

Repairs include roadway resurfacing, pavement patching, repairing curbs, and installing ADA-compliant accessible ramp. *The scope of work includes sidewalk repairs and the reconfiguration of the Old Behrman Highway, including the removal of a parking to add a two-cycle track and three-foot buffer.

Mar 30:  Traffic control is being removed on LB Landry Ave at this time.  Both lanes in both directions are open, including bike lanes. The contractor is completing minor punch list items. Please maintain caution.

Mar 25:  Behrman Hwy. is open to traffic in both directions,  including the newly striped cycle track.  The status of minor punch list items remains to be completed.

LB Landry Ave. traffic control will remain in place until next Tuesday to allow the contractor to complete required permanent striping, replace accessible ramps, construct a median accessible ramp at Mardi Gras Blvd., and repair minor punch list items.

Mar 9:  Asphalt paving on Behrman Hwy. is complete.  Permanent striping continues and the roadway has been reopened to both directions of travel.   

Asphalt paving will begin today on LB Landry Ave. and continue through the next several days, weather permitting.

Mar 7:  Asphalt paving continues on Behrman Hwy. and should be completed this afternoon, weather permitting.  Permanent striping is being laid out today and will continue through this week.

Asphalt paving begins tomorrow on L B Landry Ave. and will continue through this week.

Mar 1:  Asphalt paving is underway on Behrman Hwy. and will continue through this week.  Travelers are reminded of the one way direction, which remains in affect.  Asphalt paving is expected to begin next week.

Feb 19:  Cold milling is underway on Behrman Hwy. and will continue through Feb. 23.  The milled material is being taken to a designated area in the Skelly Rupp Stadium parking lot where the New Orleans Department of Public Works will begin removing and using it to stabilize shoulders and unpaved roadways in Algiers. Drivers should expect lane shifts as the cold milling continues when the contractor begins milling adjacent lanes to the closed lane. The roadway will remain one way from Marr Ave to LA 428. We appreciate everyone's patience.

Dec 16: Construction expected to begin Monday, January 4. Travel will be limited to one-way traffic on Old Behrman Hwy, between Marr and LA 428, throughout construction. One lane, in each direction, will remain open L B Landry Avenue during the road repairs.

Dec 1: The community informational meeting for the upcoming road repairs to Old Behrman Hwy and L B Landry Avenue took place at 6 p.m. at the William J. Fischer Accelerated Academy. In addition to explaining the road, curb and sidewalk repair, it was announced that the design plans call for Old Behrman Hwy, from Marr Avenue to LA 428, to be reconfigured. The reconfiguration includes eliminating the westbound parking lane and replacing it with a two-way cycle track and three-foot buffer. Travel on Old Behrman Highway will be limited to one-way traffic throughout construction.

Construction is anticipated to begin in January 2016 and reach completion in April 2016. On-street parking during construction working hours, generally 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday, will not be permissible.

Nov 23: A community informational meeting for Old Behrman Hwy and L B Landry Ave road repairs is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1 at William J. Fischer Accelerated Academy, Cafeteria, 1801 L B Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114. The meeting is to begin at 6 p.m.

Nov 17: Construction has been rescheduled to start in January 2016 with road repairs reaching completion in April 2016. 

Nov 4: Road repairs to Old Behrman Highway (Marr Ave - LA 428) and L B Landry Avenue (Mardi Gras Blvd – Jefferson Parish Line) are expected to start on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 and continue through March 2016. The construction work will include ADA ramp removal and replacement at sidewalk corners, full-depth patching along the corridors, asphalt overlaying and permanent striping.

Oct 19: Hard Rock Construction is the apparent low bidder for the Old Behrman Hwy and L B Landry project with road repairs expected to start in December 2015.  

Sept 15: The bid letting for Old Behrman Hwy and L B Landry has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2015. 

Aug 18: The bid letting for Old Behrman Hwy and L B Landry Ave is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9. Construction is anticipated to begin in December 2015.

June 17: DOTD's Paths to Progress Program announces roadway improvements planned for Old Behrman Highway, between Marr Avenue and Behrman Highway, and L B Landry Avenue, between Mardi Gras Boulevard and the Jefferson Parish Line. Group 39: N. Galvez St. and Downman Rd.

Repairs include roadway resurfacing, pavement patching, repairing curbs, if needed, and installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps. *The scope of work does not include sidewalk or driveway repairs.

Oct 14: Permanent striping is complete on N. Galvez. The striping includes one travel lane, one bike lane and one parking lane.

Oct 7: N. Galvez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): Road repairs are complete, and permanent striping continues. Striping includes one travel lane, one bike lane and one parking lane.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): Road repairs and permanent striping are complete. All travel lanes are open to traffic.

Sept 29: Final walk-through held today. Project has reached substantial completion. Punch-list items, including striping, are underway.

Sept 22: Permanent striping underway at N. Galvez Street as project nears completion.

Sept 18: N. Galvez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): Asphalt paving of the mainline is complete. Crews continue to pave the roadway cross-overs and turn-outs. Striping to follow. One travel lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): Permanent striping and work list items underway. One travel lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

Sept 10: N. Galvez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): Milling operations continue between A P Tureaud and Elysian Fields. Also, asphalt paving is underway between Orleans and St. Bernard. Intersections within close proximity to the paver will close for 30 to 45 minutes to allow the asphalt to cure and harden. One travel lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): Asphalt paving is complete. Striping to follow. One lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

Sept 3: Downman (Babylon - Odin): Asphalt leveling and paving underway. Intersections within close proximity to the paving machine will temporarily close for 30 - 45 minutes in addition to the existing alternating lane closures. 

N. Galvez (Orleans - Elysian): Milling operations continue. Pavement patching at the A P Tureaud intersection also underway. Paving to follow.

Aug 27: N. Glavez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): Patching is underway at the intersection of A P Tureaud. Milling operations continue, and paving to follow.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): ADA ramps, patching, curb replacement and milling operations are complete. Joint repair underway, and paving operations are scheduled to start next week.

In addition to the existing alternating lane closures, street intersections within close proximity to the paving machine will temporarily close for 30 to 45 minutes during paving operations on the N. Galvez and Downman project segments.

Aug 18: N. Glavez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): Pavement patching and curb and gutter replacement continue. Milling operations to start mid-week. Milling scheduled to start at Orleans and move towards Elysian Fields.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): ADA ramps, patching and milling operations are complete. Median curb placement underway and to continue next week.

Aug 11: N. Glavez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): Installation of ADA ramps complete with the exception of one ramp. Pavement patching, utility adjustments and curb and gutter repairs underway and to continue next week. One travel lane remains open to traffic.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): Pavement patching is near completion, and median curb repair underway. Paving operations to start within two weeks. One lane in each direction remains open for travel.

Aug 4: N. Glavez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): ADA ramp installation and pavement patching continue in the left lane. One travel lane remains open to traffic.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): Pavement patching continues in the median lanes. Curb and gutter repair to begin this week. The outside lanes remain open to traffic.

Jul 28: N. Glavez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): ADA ramp installation and pavement patching underway in the left lane, this week. ADA ramps are complete in the right lane. The right lane remains open to traffic.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): Pavement patching is complete in the right lane, and all ADA ramps have been installed. Crews to swap traffic to the outside lanes this week and start pavement patching in the median lanes.

Jul 15: N. Glavez (Orleans - Elysian Fields): ADA ramp installation and pavement patching continue in the right lane. Patching and ADA ramp installment of the left lane to follow.  One lane remains open to traffic.

Downman (Babylon - Odin): ADA ramp installation and milling operations are complete. Patching and median curb repair underway. One lane remains open to traffic.

Jul 1: Downman (Babylon – Odin): Cold milling operations are complete. Pavement patching underway and will continue next week. N. Galvez (Orleans – Elysian Fields): ADA ramp removal and replacement underway and to continue for the next three weeks.

Jun 23: Downman (Babylon - Odin): ADA ramp removal and replacement underway and cold milling operations to follow.

Jun 16: Paths to Progress will start the  Downman Road (Babylon – Odin) and N. Galvez (Orleans – Elysian Fields) project on Monday, June 23. Crews will begin with pavement excavation and ADA ramp removal and replacement on Downman Road. Road repairs of N. Galvez Street will begin two weeks from the start date. One lane will remain open to traffic throughout construction.
 
Repairs include roadway resurfacing, pavement patching, repairing curbs and installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps. Also, a dedicated bike lane will be installed on N. Galvez Street between Orleans and Elysian Fields. Crews may begin tree trimming and installing curb inlet protection in preparation of the project this week.  Project anticipated to reach completion late August 2014. All dates are dependent on weather and other unforeseen events.

Jun 3: Road repairs scheduled to start later this month and last approximately two months.

May 6: Community held tonight at the New Life Church of Christ Holiness USA, specifically for the Downman Road upcoming repairs.

April 29: A community will be held Tuesday, May 6 at 6 pm at the New Life Church of Christ Holiness USA, 5918 Babylon Street, New Orleans, LA 70126 to discuss upcoming road repairs to Downman Rd. Please access the church parking lot from the main entrance on Babylon Street.

April 22: Paths to Progress hosts a community meeting tonight, April 22 at 6pm at the St. Ann Activity Center, 2117 Ursulines Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70116 to discuss upcoming road repairs. On-street parking available along Ursulines Ave and neighboring streets.

April 15: A community meeting will be held Tuesday, April 22 at 6pm at the St. Ann Activity Center, 2117 Ursulines Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70116 to discuss upcoming road repairs. Since St. Ann Activity Center does not have a designated parking area, on-street parking is available along Ursulines Avenue and neighboring streets.

 

Group 38: MacArthur Blvd. and Sullen Pl.

MacArthur Boulevard (General DeGaulle Drive - Kabel Drive)

Sullen Place  (General DeGaulle Drive - Patterson Drive)

Repairs include roadway resurfacing, pavement patching, curb repair, installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps. *The scope of work does not include sidewalk or driveway repairs.

June 7: Punch-list items are complete. All road repairs are complete. 

June 2: The permanent striping for MacArthur Blvd and Sullen Place is complete. All lanes are open to traffic for each roadway. Only punch-list items remain as a final walk-through was held on Friday, May 29.

May 29: Two-way traffic is now permissible on Sullen Place: With permanent striping nearing completion, Sullen Place has re-opened to traffic in both directions.

May 26: Permanent striping on MacArthur Boulevard nears completion: Crews to stripe the remaining corner zones tomorrow, May 27. Roadway is completely open to traffic.

May 18: The striping layout on MacArthur Blvd and Sullen Place is near completion. Crews are to begin permanent striping on Thursday, May 21 pending weather and other unforeseen events.

May 11: Striping of MacArthur Blvd to include a dedicated bike lane: Crews are currently laying out the striping for MacArthur Blvd between General DeGaulle and Kabel. Striping plans include two travel lanes, one bike lane and one parking lane on each side of the roadway.

May 4: Crews have completed paving operations on Sullen Place. Minor work list items underway. The striping layout is to start within a week or two.

April 29: MacArthur Blvd (General DeGaulle - Kabel): ADA ramp installation, curb and gutter repairs, pavement patching and paving operations are complete. Traffic loop repairs underway and striping to follow.

Sullen Place (General DeGaulle -Patterson): Paving operations underway. Paving of the mainline is complete while crews continue to overlay the parking lanes. One-way northbound traffic continues to be implemented.  

April 17: It's been a week of bad weather conditions; construction activity is scheduled to resume on Monday, April 20. Crews will work on traffic loops on MacArthur Boulevard and asphalt wearing on Sullen Place.

April 7: The paving of turn-outs and crossovers is underway on MacArthur Blvd. Asphalt leveling on Sullen Place is scheduled to start this week.

March 30: Asphalt paving operations resume on MacArthur Blvd between General DeGaulle and Kabel. Crews will begin paving on Sullen Place this week or next.

March 26: Construction activities are canceled for the day due to rain. Milling and paving operations will resume on MacArthur and Sullen Place when weather permits.

March 24: Asphalt leveling and paving underway on MacArthur between General DeGaulle and Kabel. In addition to the ongoing one-lane closures, intersections are restricted for 30 to 45 minutes at a time to allow the newly laid asphalt to harden and cure.

Milling operations underway on Sullen Place between Patterson and General DeGaulle. Paving to follow. One-way northbound traffic continues throughout construction.

March 20: Crews are milling the turnouts of Sullen Place. One-way northbound traffic is being implemented from Patterson to General DeGaulle. March 9: Planned milling operations for MacArthur rescheduled to due to rain. Road repairs to resume when weather permits.

Feb 27: Pavement patching, curb repair and ADA ramp removal and replacement continue on MacArthur and Sullen Place. Cold milling operations to follow.

Feb 16: MacArthur Blvd (General DeGaulle - Kabel): Pavement patching underway in the median lanes and to continue throughout the week.

Sullen Place (General DeGaulle -Patterson): One-way northbound traffic continues throughout construction. Work at the General Meyer and Sullen intersection is underway. ADA ramp installation and pavement patching continue this week.

Feb 13: Paths to Progress construction work will be reduced or restricted on MacArthur Blvd on Saturday, February 14 so that parking is available for those attending the Algiers parade. Road repairs of Sullen Place between General DeGaulle and Patterson will continue throughout the weekend.

Feb 9: MacArthur Blvd (General DeGaulle - Kabel): Pavement patching is planned to start today, Feb. 9, in the median lanes. Curb repair and patching of the outside lanes are complete. Work in the median lanes will continue next week.

Sullen Place (General DeGaulle - Patterson): One-way northbound traffic continues throughout construction. More than 50% of the ADA ramps have been installed. ADA ramp installation and pavement patching will continue this week. Work at the General Meyer and Sullen intersection is planned to start within the upcoming weeks.

Jan 27: The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority announces detours from Sullen Place in Algiers. Due to the Department of Transportation and Development's Paths to Progress road rehabilitation project on Sullen Place, the RTA has established detours on Sullen Place going to Canal Street (inbound direction) are in effect until April 2015. Buses will detour going to Canal Street from Bennett Street and Berkley Drive via General Meyer Avenue and Woodland Drive.

Inbound Stops on Sullen Drive between General De Gaulle Drive and General Meyer Avenue are suspended until the State of Louisiana‘s road project on Sullen Place is completed. These bus stops are:

Jan 26: MacArthur Blvd (General DeGaulle - Kabel): Crews continue ADA ramp removal and replacement, pavement patching and curb and gutter repairs in the high lanes from DeGaulle to Holiday. Road repairs continue in the low lane of MacArthur between Holiday and Kabel.

Sullen Place (General DeGaulle -Patterson): One-way northbound traffic is being implemented throughout construction. The installation of bus pads and ADA ramps are underway as crews continue panel replacements.

Jan 14: MacArthur Blvd (General DeGaulle - Kabel): ADA ramp removal and replacement underway between DeGaulle and Holiday. Tree trimming also underway in the median. 

Sullen Place (General DeGaulle -Patterson): One-way northbound traffic is being implemented throughout construction. ADA ramp removal and replacement underway in the parking lanes. Pavement patching continues in the southbound traveling lane.

Jan 12: Construction underway on MacArthur Boulevard and Sullen Place. 

Jan 7: The construction of MacArthur Boulevard (General DeGaulle Drive - Kabel Drive) and Sullen Place (General DeGaulle Drive - Patterson Drive) is scheduled to start on Monday, January 12 and reach completion by April 2015. 

The southbound traffic of Sullen Place will close for the duration of the project. Only one-way northbound traffic will be permitted on Sullen Place, between General DeGaulle and Patterson. Travelers are encouraged to use an alternative route such as Woodland Highway. 

One lane in each direction of MacArthur will remain open to traffic throughout construction.

Jan 5: Road repairs scheduled to start on Monday, Jan 12. Temporary lane closures and restricted parking will be implemented throughout construction.  

Dec 16: Community informational meeting held at the Algiers Regional Library to discuss upcoming road repairs to MacArthur Boulevard and Sullen Place.

Dec 9: A community informational meeting will be held Tuesday, December 16 at 6 p.m. at the Algiers Regional Library, 3014 Holiday Drive, New Orleans, LA, 70131 to discuss upcoming roadway repairs.

 

Group 37: Newton St. and General DeGaulle Dr.

Newton Street (Whitney Avenue - Behrman Avenue)

General DeGaulle Drive  (Holiday Drive - Woodland Drive)

Repairs include pavement removal and replacement, curb repair if needed, and installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps. *Improvements to Newton Street will also include driveway and sidewalk repairs and landscaping. Street light installation may be included in the project, pending construction cost and feasibility.

Dec 2: Ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held on Thursday, December 4 at 11 a.m. at the Craige Cultural Center, 1800 Newton Street, New Orleans, LA 70114. 

Nov 24: Final walk through of project held today. All lanes have reopened on Newton Street and General DeGaulle Drive as crews complete punch list items and clean construction site.

Nov 19: Tree planting and permanent striping of Newton Street underway.

Nov 17: Permanent striping of General deGaulle Drive between Holiday and Woodland is complete. All lanes have reopened to traffic.

Nov 14: Today, crews continued concrete pours and street light installations and began tree planting on Newton between Whitney and Behrman. Permanent striping on General deGaulle between Holiday and Woodland will continue next week

Nov 6: Newton (Whitney – Behrman): Pavement patching is complete. Pedestrian street light installments are underway and to continue next week. Landscaping and striping to follow. One lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

General deGaulle (Holiday – Woodland): Pavement patching is complete. Sidewalk and ADA ramp installations continue westbound. Permanent striping underway. All eastbound lanes are open to traffic. Only one westbound travel lane remains open to traffic.

Oct 27: Newton (Whitney – Berhman): Westbound lane remains closed to traffic through Friday, October 31. Traffic is only one-way eastbound as crews continue concrete panel replacements. Pedestrian street light installments to begin within two weeks.

General deGaulle (Holiday – Woodland): Eastbound lanes are open to traffic. Pavement patching and ADA ramp installments continue westbound. Only travel lane is open westbound.

Oct 21: Newton (Whitney - Berhman): Closure of westbound traffic scheduled for Wednesday, October 21 through Friday, October 31. During this time, Newton will only have one-way eastbound traffic. This work is necessary to facilitate ongoing roadway repairs. The westbound lane of Newton Street, between Whitney Avenue and Behrman Avenue, will temporarily close. Traffic in the westbound direction will be detoured using Mardi Gras Boulevard. 

Oct 15: Newton (Whitney – Berhman): ADA ramp installation and sidewalk repairs are complete. Patching is underway in the travel lanes and will continue next week. One travel lane in each direction remains open. 

General deGaulle (Holiday – Woodland): Pavement patching and ADA ramp removal and replacement are underway and will continue next week. One travel lane in each direction remains open.

Oct 1: Newton (Whitney – Berhman): ADA ramp installation and sidewalk repairs are underway. Patching is complete in the parking lanes and will continue in the travel lanes, next week. One travel lane in each direction remains open.

General deGaulle (Holiday – Woodland): Crews continue patching in the median lanes. Patching is complete in the outside lanes. One travel lane in each direction remains open.

Sept 12: Newton (Whitney – Berhman): Patching in the parking lane is complete. Removal and replacement of sidewalks and specific driveway locations underway on the left roadway. One travel lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

General deGaulle (Holiday – Woodland): Patching underway at the Huntlee crossover and in the left lane/left roadway between Woodland and Huntlee. Concrete has been placed for the Kabel and Lennox sidewalks. Sidewalk repairs, patching and catch basin adjustments on the left and right roadway will continue next week. One travel lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

Sept 4: Newton (Whitney - Behrman): ADA ramp installation and pavement patching continue. One lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

General deGaulle (Holiday - Woodland): Pavement patching and ADA ramp removal and replacement continue. Sidewalk repairs at the intersection of Kabel Drive near completion. One lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

Aug 29: Newton (Whitney - Behrman): ADA ramp installation and pavement patching underway and to continue next week. One lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

General deGaulle (Holiday - Woodland): ADA ramp removal and replacement and pavement patching underway. Sidewalk repairs at the intersection of Kabel Drive continue. One lane in each direction remains open to traffic.

Aug 18: Road repairs start today. This week, traffic control installment, tree-trimming, sawcutting and ADA ramp removal and replacement are underway for both street segments.

Aug 11: Construction work and lane closures to start on Monday, August 18. Contractor is delivering community notices today.

Aug 7: Construction crews will begin road repairs on Newton Street, between Whitney Avenue and Behrman Avenue, and General DeGaulle Drive, between Holiday Drive and Woodland Drive, on Monday, August 18. The road repairs are valued at approximately $3 million and will include concrete panel removal and replacement, curb repair and ADA-compliant ramp installments.

Betterments for Newton Street also include landscaping/tree installments and sidewalk adjustments. Negotiations continue with the contractor to install pedestrian street lights along the street segment. 

This project is expected to last 2 to 3 months.

All dates and planned construction activities are subject to change pending weather and other unforeseen events.

Nov 19: The reconfiguration of Baronne Street has been rescheduled to start tomorrow, November 20. Baronne will be reconfigured to remove on travel lane from Canal Street to Calliope Street and replace it with a dedicated bike lane.

Nov 1: Reconfiguration of Baronne Street has been postponed until futher notice per the direction of the City of New Orleans.

Oct 29: Baronne Street will be reconfigured to include one bike lane. In conjunction with the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s Paths to Progress will re-configure Baronne Street to remove one travel lane from Canal Street to Calliope Street and replace it with a dedicated bicycle lane. The installation of a bike lane on Baronne Street is consistent with the City’s Master Plan and the Complete Streets Program. The striping of the bike lane will take place from Saturday, November 1 through Sunday, November 2.

Construction of the $2.9 million Baronne project began on March 24. The City has funded 20 percent of the project, with the Regional Planning Commission matching 80 percent. The patching, resurfacing, removing and replacing of sidewalk segments and installing of ADA ramps are complete. Configuring the bike lane will be the last stage of the project.

Oct 16: The left lane of S. Peters Street, between Julia and Notre Dame, will temporarily close to traffic from Thursday, Oct. 16 to Monday, Oct. 20 as crews complete corrective work. One lane will remain open to traffic throughout the repairs.

Oct 9: Sidewalk removal and replacement on Baronne Street between Lafayette and Howard nears completion. All travel lanes and sidewalk areas are open. Next week, crews plan to complete minor details such as sealing joints and coring termite traps.

Sept 19: Sidewalk removal and replacement continues on Baronne between Girod and Julia. Crews plan to start sidewalk repairs at the 600 block, between Lafayette and Girod, on Wednesday, September 24. Aug 7: Baronne (Canal - Calliope): Asphalt paving operations continue at the Baronne and Poydras intersection and between Canal and Common. Also, crews will start paving between Common and Gravier today, August 7. The New Orleans Police Department is on-site to assist with traffic management. The Common Street and Gravier Street intersections will remain open to traffic, while the travel lanes and parking lanes are closed to faciliate paving operations.

Aug 4: To facilitate paving operations, the temporary alternating closures of the Baronne and Poydras intersection will continue tomorrow, August 5 from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Paving operations of the eastbound lanes are complete, and crews will continue paving the remaining westbound lanes. The left turn from Poydras Street and the outside travel lanes (closet to median) will remain open to traffic.

Also, the New Orleans Police Department will assist with traffic management, and access to businesses and parking garages within the project limits will be permitted.

July 31: Baronne/Poydras Intersection will have temporary alternating lane closures between Saturday, August 2 at 6:45 a.m. to Sunday, August 3 at 7 p.m. The temporary closures will facilitate asphalt paving operations.

Pavement patching on Burgundy will immediately follow the completion of milling. Milling operations of South Peters between Canal and Calliope are scheduled to start the week of April 21.

April 10: S. Peters (Canal – Calliope): ADA ramp installation continues on the left side (riverside) of the roadway.  Next week, crews to begin milling operations from Calliope to Poydras.  Burgundy (Esplanade – Elysian Fields): Crews to complete ADA ramp installation on the left side (riverside) of the roadway by Friday, April 11. Milling operations to start the week of April 21 or sooner.

Jan 17: The end time for construction work on Congress between Prentiss and Hayne has been extended from 5:30 pm. to 8 pm. Crews may also work weekends between Chef Menteur and Hayne to continue excavation, patching and installation of ADA ramps.

Jan 15: Crews to install ADA ramps between Chef Menteur and Prentiss today. Excavation and the forming of a large patch between Mithra and Odin, scheduled for this week. Expect construction work to take place this weekend as crews place concrete at Prentiss moving towards Hayne.

Jan 9: Congress from Mexico to Hayne is currently closed as Sewerage and Water Board removes and replaces a sewer line. Area will reopen when replacement is complete.

Jan 7: Pavement excavation and saw cutting underway between Mithra and Prentiss. Crews are also performing full reconstruction at Prentiss moving towards Hayne. ADA ramp removal and replacement is also underway at sidewalk intersections.

Jan 5: Road repairs start tomorrow. One-way traffic will be implemented throughout construction.

Dec 26: Given the width of the roadway, the traffic control has been revised to include only one-way traffic throughout the entire project limits, which is Congress between Chef Menteur and Hayne. Construction to start Monday, Jan 6.

Dec 17: Community meeting held at St. Gabriel Archangel Parish Hall to discuss upcoming road repairs to Congress Drive. Traffic control will include one lane closure in each direction between Chef and Prentiss. Only one-way traffic will be permitted throughout construction between Prentiss and Hayne.

Dec 10: A community meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec 17 at 6pm at the St. Gabriel Archangel Parish Hall, 5000 Piety Drive, New Orleans, LA 70126 to discuss upcoming road repairs of Congress Drive.

Mar 6: Paving continues through Saturday, March 8. Sawing and sealing of joints and curb repair to start next week. Curb repair between the Duncan Canal and Williams Blvd is complete with all lanes open to traffic.

Feb 25: This week, crews continue pavement patching and cold milling operations (2-inch removal of existing pavement). Asphalt paving to start next week. Paving is a moving operation; therefore, intersections within close proximity to the paving machine will be temporarily restricted for 30-45 minutes in addition to the alternating one-lane closures already in place.

Only one lane in one direction will be closed during construction hours (westbound and eastbound lanes will not close simultaneously). The lane will reopen to traffic each day after construction working hours. Standard working hours are between 7AM – 5:30PM, Monday - Friday. Crews may extend working hours and work weekends if City grants permission.  Curb repair to last 2- 3 weeks.

Dec 9: W. Esplanade (Ole Miss - Williams): Striping of eastbound to resume when weather permits. Striping is a moving operation. Dec 2: W. Esplanade (Ole Miss - Williams): Crews resume temporary closure of the eastbound high lane to complete sawing and sealing joints. Striping to begin Wednesday, Dec 4 and continue through the weekend. All lanes will reopen to traffic during striping operations. 31st (Duncan Canal - Loyola): Paving operations are underway. Alternating lane closures and rolling closures of intersections are in place, and a detour to 30^thstreet has been established. Loyola (W. Nov 25: W. Esplanade (Ole Miss - Williams): Paving is complete, and crews are sealing joints. Roadway to reopen to traffic on Wednesday, Nov 27. Crews to stripe the roadway after the Thanksgiving holiday. Striping will be a moving operation with no cones or barricades. 31st (Duncan Canal - Loyola): Paving to start the week of Dec 2. Alternating lane closures and restriction of intersections lasting up to 45 minutes will be implemented. A detour to 30th street will be in place. Loyola (W. Esplanade - 3 Loyola's): Paving operations are complete. Crews to remove traffic control devices and reopen the roadway to traffic today, Nov 25.

Nov 18: W. Esplanade (Ole Miss - Williams): Paving of the turnouts and crossovers is near completion. 31st (Duncan Canal - Loyola) Cold milling operations to begin tomorrow, Nov 19. Loyola (W. Esplanade - 3 Loyola's): Paving operations to start this week. ADA ramp installation at the intersection of Loyola and W. Esplanade continues.

Nov 13: Paving operations for Loyola (W. Esplanade and 3 Loyola's) to begin Friday, Nov 15. In addition to alternating lane closures, intersections will be temporarily closed for up to 45 minutes. Paving is a moving operation; only intersections within close proximity to the paver will be restricted at a time. Paving to last 5 working days.

Nov 11: W. Esplanade (Ole Miss - Williams): ADA ramp installation and paving of the turnouts, turning lanes and median crossovers continue this week. Crews will also repave the right lane between Williams and Duncan Canal (eastbound and westbound) to meet liquid asphalt specifications.  Paving of W. Esplanade to reach completion this week.

31st  (Duncan Canal - Loyola):  Eastbound lane is closed and traffic is detoured to 30^thStreet as the construction of bus pads continue. Crews plan to complete bus pad repairs this week and begin cold milling operations on Monday, Nov 18. Loyola (W. Esplanade - 3 Loyola's Intersection): Cold milling of the southbound lane continues today, Nov 11. This week, crews to install ADA ramps in the southbound lane and at the W. Esplanade and Loyola intersection. Paving operations to start on Friday, November 15.

Nov 8: W. Esplanade (Williams – Ole Miss) Paving of the mainline between Duncan Canal and Ole Miss is complete. Paving of the turn-outs, turning lanes and median cross-overs between Williams and Ole Miss will continue through next week. Crews to start the removal and replacement of the recent asphalt overlay of the right lane (eastbound and westbound) on W. Esplanade between Williams and Duncan Canal on Monday, Nov 11. During the testing process, it was determined that the liquid asphalt did not meet specifications. Crews to cold mill the surface on Monday, November 11 and begin repaving on Wednesday, November 13. Repaving of the segment to last one day.

Nov 4: 31st Street (Loyola - Duncan Canal): Tomorrow, the eastbound lane of 31st Street between Loyola Drive and Duncan Canal will close, and traffic will reduce to one lane. For the next three to four weeks, only one direction of vehicular traffic will be allowed, to facilitate the removal and replacement of bus pads along the corridor. Traffic will be detoured to 30th Street.

W. Esplanade (Williams - Ole Miss): Crews continue paving between Duncan Canal and Ole Miss this week. In addition to one lane closures, temporary closures of side street intersections will close, for up to 45 minutes. Only side street intersections within close proximity to the paver will close at a time. Loyola Drive (W. Esplanade - 3 Loyolas): Cold milling operations to start tomorrow, November 5. ADA ramp installation continues. One lane, in each direction remains open.

Oct 30: Paving of W. Esplanade is rescheduled to begin Friday, November 1, due to the possibility of rain tomorrow. Current road closures will remain effective in addition to rolling closures of cross sections, lasting up to 45 minutes. Only cross sections within close proximity to the paving machine will be closed at a time. Police detail will be on-site to assist with traffic conditions; cross sections will reopen as construction progresses.

Oct 25: W. Esplanade (Ole Miss - Williams): ADA ramp installation, utility adjustments and joint re-sealing is underway. Paving is anticipated to begin Thursday, October 31. Paving will begin between Williams and Duncan Canal. Crews will then pave between Duncan Canal and Ole Miss, starting on Nov 4. Current road closures will remain effective in addition to the cross sections being temporarily closed for up to 45 minutes to allow the new asphalt to cure and harden. Police detail will be on-site to assist with traffic and cross sections will re-open as construction progresses.  All dates are dependent on weather and other unforeseen events.

31 Street (Duncan Canal - Loyola): ADA ramp installation is complete. Bus pad repairs are soon underway. Loyola (W. Esplanade - 3 Loyola's Intersection): ADA ramp removal and replacement is underway and will continue next week.

Oct 10: Today, crews will temporarily re-open both eastbound lanes of W. Esplanade Avenue between Williams Blvd and the Duncan Canal for 4 - 5 days. One eastbound lane will re-close between Ole Miss and Duncan Canal when curb repair resumes next week. Loyola Drive (W. Esplanade – 3 Loyola’s Intersection): Crews will return to the original plan to construct road repairs on Loyola before the W. Esplanade extension (Williams - Power) project begins. Road closure and traffic signage will be installed today, Oct 10. ADA ramp removal and replacement is soon underway. One lane in each traveling direction will remain open.

Oct 8: W. Esplanade Avenue (Ole Miss - Williams): ADA ramp installation and pavement patching continue eastbound. Patching of the westbound high lane continues. One lane in each traveling direction is open. 31st Street (Duncan Canal - Loyola): ADA ramp installation westbound and eastbound continues. All lanes are currently open to traffic. Loyola Drive (W. Saw cutting and removal of panels and pavement to continue next week, in the eastbound lane. Aug 9: Kenner Department of Public Works to install a new permanent generator at the lift station near the Vintage and Medoc intersection; a second project involves the installation of a new larger force main from that same station. A portion of east-bound Vintage Drive was intentionally left incomplete by the Paths to Progress contractor to ensure that the roadway would not be evacuated after the repavement. Instead, this pavement work will be performed by the Vintage and Medoc Force Main contractor. Hennessey will remain a two-travel lane to accommodate the traffic near Jesuit High School. Other segments of the repaved roadway will include a dedicated bike lane. *The scope of work does not include sidewalk or driveway repairs.

Jul 7: Removal and replacement of the concrete approach slabs on S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy is complete. Installment of barrier walls is underway. The bicycle path and northbound lane will re-open to traffic today. Southbound lane to re-open to traffic later this week.

May 12: Removal and replacement of the concrete approach slabs of the southbound lanes of S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy at the I-10 overpass begin this week. Today, crews are setting up the traffic signage, cones and barricades for the temporary closures of S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy at the I-10 overpass between Tulane and Palmetto. The temporary closures and detours are expected to last five to six weeks.

May 5: Temporary closures of S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy at the I-10 overpass have been rescheduled to start on Monday, May 12. The temporary closures will last five to six weeks.

May 2: Temporary closures of South Jefferson Davis at I-10 overpass to start on Monday. Crews will perform repairs to S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy at the I-10 overpass, starting on Monday, May 5 and lasting five to six weeks. Temporary closures will facilitate the removal and replacement of the concrete approach slabs. There will be a temporary closure of South Jefferson Davis Parkway southbound lanes at the I-10 overpass from Tulane Avenue to Palmetto Street. Traffic will be detoured to South Broad Street at the I-10 overpass. Also, the left northbound lane of South Jefferson Davis Parkway at the I-10 overpass from Palmetto Street to Tulane Avenue will temporarily close to vehicular traffic and convert into a bike path for cyclists. The right northbound lane of South Jefferson Davis Parkway will remain open to traffic throughout construction. The improvements are a continuation of the South Jefferson Davis Pkwy project that began in November 2013.

April 7: Final walk-through of project held Friday, April 4. Crews to remove temporary traffic signage, clean site, seed and fertilize construction areas and complete other punch list items. 

Mar 21: Road repairs including pavement removal, patching and resurfacing are complete for all street segments. ADA ramp installation and permanent striping complete as well. Crews to install bike symbols on Banks Street this weekend and complete work-list items for all street segments next week. All lanes are open for travel on Banks, Bienville and S. Jefferson Davis.

Mar 13: Banks (S. Carrollton – St. Patrick): Asphalt corrections continue. Permanent striping to start tomorrow, March 14. The segment between S. Carrollton and S. Hennessey will remain a two-travel lane, with the right lane being a shared bike lane, to assist the traffic near Jesuit High School. Other segments of the repaved roadway will include a dedicated bike lane.

S. Jefferson Davis (Gravier – Canal): Permanent striping complete. Crews to remove the temporary "no parking” signs and install bike symbols and signage for the shared bike lane. All lanes are open for travel, and on-street parking is available. Bienville (Jefferson Davis – N. Carrollton): All lanes are open for travel, and on-street parking is available.

Mar 7: Banks (S. Carrollton – St. Patrick): Removal and replacement of deficient asphalt underway and to continue next week. Locations of asphalt corrections are near the South St. Patrick intersection and the segment between South Hennessey and South Solomon. Permanent striping to follow. All lanes will reopen to traffic immediately following the completion of permanent striping.

Feb 26: Banks (S. Carrollton – St. Patrick): Removal and replacement of deficient asphalt at the contractor’s cost to take place tomorrow. The locations of asphalt replacement are near the S. St. Patrick intersection and the segment between S. Hennessey and S. Solomon. Permanent striping will also begin tomorrow. All lanes will reopen to traffic immediately following the completion of permanent striping.

The one-lane closure will reopen to traffic immediately following the completion of permanent striping. Bienville (Jefferson Davis – N. Carrollton): All lanes are open for travel. Feb 20:  Asphalt paving of mainline and cross-overs is complete on S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy. Paving of turn-outs will continue next week, followed by the striping layout. Work-list items are underway on Banks and Bienville to be followed by permanent striping.

Jan 30: Road repairs resume, today. Pavement excavation, patchwork and ADA ramp installation continue. Planned paving operations will start when temperatures are warm enough to allow the new asphalt to be properly placed and compacted.

Jan 27: Construction activity limited, this week, due to cold weather conditions. One-lane closures remain effective. Crews will monitior traffic conditions and make changes to traffic cones, barricades and signage as neccessary.

Jan 22: Banks (S. Carrollton – St. Patrick): Pavement patching and density testing are underway. Paving to start mid-next week. Crews will first pave the median lanes, and then pave the outside lanes. Paving is a moving operation; therefore, intersections within close proximity to the paving machine will be temporarily restricted for 30-45 minutes in addition to the alternating one-lane closures already in place.

Bienville (Jefferson Davis – N. Carrollton): Paving is complete for travel lanes, crossovers and turnouts. Crews to perform work list items this week and next. Jan 15: Two additional water leaks have been reported at 4316 and 4328 Banks. Sewerage and Water Board to repair waterline so that patching may continue. Paving operations for Banks (S. Carrollton - St. Patrick) are postponed until patchwork is complete. Paving of travel and parking lanes on Bienville are complete. Crews to start paving the cross-overs and turn-outs on Bienville (Jefferson Davis - N. Carrollton) before Friday, Jan 17. Sealing of large roadway ruptures continue on S. Jefferson Davis. Jan 13: The median lane in each direction of Bienville has been paved. Paving of the outside lanes to start and finish this week. Paving is a moving operation. Intersections within close proximity to the paver will be temporarily restricted for 30-45 minutes in addition to alternating lane closures. Crews to start paving on Banks immediately following the completion of Bienville, which is scheduled for late this week/early next week.  This week, crews will start sealing large roadway roadway ruptures on S. Jefferson Davis and continue ADA ramp installation and pavement patching.

Jan 7: Paving of Bienville rescheduled due to cold weather conditions. Outdoor temperatures are too cold to allow the hot mix asphalt to be properly placed and compacted. Crews plan to start paving on Thursday, January 9, weather permitting. ADA ramp installation and pavement patching continue on S. Jefferson Davis and Banks. Water leak reported at 4326 Banks - Sewerage and Water Board to repair.

Jan 2: ADA ramp installation and patching continue on S. Jefferson Davis and Banks. The Sewerage and Water Board is performing a waterline replacement at the S. Jefferson Davis and Banks intersection. Paving of Bienville to start the week of January 6.

Pavement patching and installing ADA-compliant ramps on Freret to begin Monday, August 19. Crews will begin work at the eastern side of Freret from Louisiana to Napoleon. Starting at the less congested side (Louisiana – Napoleon) will allow the Sewerage and Water Board to complete the waterline replacement and the Department of Public Works to re-install the deficient ADA ramps along the corridor. Traffic control for the Freret (Napoleon - Jefferson) segment will not be enforced until crews reach that area. 

Aug 7: Project is expected to begin Thursday, August 15. Crews will notify businesses, schools and residents with a letter of intent tomorrow (7 days prior to the start of construction).

Aug 21: A final walk-through took place for this project on Tuesday, August 20. It was determined that a number of punch list items must be complete before proceeding the next subgroup. The completion of punch list items should not exceed 7 calendar days. 

Aug 14: The 1600 block area of Broadway has been repaved. Crews continue to work on minor detailed-items on Broadway and Leonidas. Project substantial completion is expected no later than Friday, Aug. 16 Weather and unforeseen events pending.

Aug 7: Project substantial completion date is expected Wednesday, August 14. The water leak at 1620 Broadway Street will be repaired by the Sewerage and Water Board and the damaged area will be repaved by Paths to Progress.

Jul 31: Crews will begin a full closure of the riverbound lane of Broadway, from St. Charles to Leake, beginning Thursday, August 1. The closure will switch to the lakebound lane once the paving crews reach Leake and begin paving to St. Charles. The alternating closures will be in effect from Thursday, August 1 through Saturday, August 3, and Monday, August 5, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Jul 26: Broadway (Fontainebleau - Leake): Paving of southbound travel and parking lanes are complete from Fontainebleau to St. Charles. Northbound travel lane complete. Crews continue paving parking lane from Zimple to Fontainebleau tomorrow. Leonidas (Palmetto - Earhart) Paving will be completed today. 

Jul 25: Broadway (Fontainebleau – Leake): Paving on the top lanes from Fontainebleau to St. Charles is complete. Crews are now paving the parking lanes from Fontainebleau to St. Charles.   Leonidas (Earhart – Palmetto): Paving operations are scheduled for completion tomorrow.

Jul 22: Paving operations have been rescheduled due to potential bad weather.

Jul19: Monday morning, July 22, crews will begin a full closure of the southbound lane of Broadway, from Fontainebleau to St. Charles, beginning at 7 a.m. The closure will switch to the northbound lane once the paving crews reach St. Charles and begin paving to Fontainebleau. The alternating closures will be in effect from Monday, July 22, through Friday, July 26, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Jul 17: Surface leveling on Broadway from Fontainebleau to St. Charles is projected to start tomorrow.

Jul 11: Broadway Street (Fontainebleau – Leake): Installation of ADA ramps and median walks continue. Crews are also working on the concrete curb and gutter sections, bus pad repairs and preparing for the asphalt overlay. May 14: Fleming Construction has closed the riverbound lanes at the 2200 block of Broadway Street as part of a New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board waterline repair project. This project is distinctly different from the Paths to Progress program.

May 8: In order to complete a water service project, New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board has temporarily closed Broadway Street southbound from Oak Street to Freret Street. Staff of New Orleans Sewerage & Water are working as quickly as possible to limit the inconvenience to travelers, businesses and schools in the surrounding area. This is a distinctly different project from the Paths to Progress program. 

April 18: Cold milling construction on Broadway Street will begin Monday, April 22nd. One lane in each traveling direction will remain open to traffic to ensure a smooth traffic flow. Parking will be restricted during cold milling & pavement operations (6:00 am to 6:00 pm).

April 17: Installation of ADA-compliant ramps begins.

Nov 11: Paving of the parking lanes, crossovers, turnouts, and turn lanes continue this week. Installation of median ADA ramps is also underway.

Nov 6: Paving is underway. Crews began at N. Claiborne Avenue and are moving towards Canal Street. In addition to current lane closures, intersections will be temporarily restricted between 20 - 45 mins. Only intersections within close proximity to the paver will be effected.

Nov 1: Pavement patching and ADA ramp installation continue. Paving to begin Wednesday, November 6. The asphalt overlay will begin at N. Claiborne Avenue and move towards Canal Street.

Current lane closures will remain effective in addition to temporary side street intersections closures, lasting up to 45 minutes. Paving is a moving operation, so only the side street intersections within close proximity to the paving machine will be closed at a time. 

Oct 30: Paving to begin mid-next week.

Oct 28: Crews to install ADA ramps along the corners of the parking lane this week. Pavement excavation and patching is also underway.

Oct 22: There will be a temporary closure located at the off ramp of Basin Street and Interstate 10 East scheduled for today, October 22, from 9 am to 1 pm. The closure will allow crews to perform milling operations, clean debris, cold mix joints, and then reopen the ramp. Traffic will be detoured to the Esplanade Avenue off-ramp during the closure.

Oct 17: Crews are installing traffic control. Only one lane in each direction will remain open throughout construction. Cold milling begins tomorrow, Oct 18, at N. Claiborne moving towards Canal Street.

Oct 14: Road repairs will begin this week, immediately following the substantial completion of the Gentilly and St. Bernard project. The two outside lanes, in each direction, wll close as crews start repairs. The lane closest to the median, in each direction, will remain open. One lane in each direction will remain open throughout construction.

Oct 11: Basin Street road closures will begin the week of October 14. The two outside lanes, in each direction, will close as crews start repairs. The lane closest to the median, in each direction, will remain open. One lane in each direction will remain open throughout construction.

Oct 17: Crews have reached substantial completion. Permanent striping to be complete within 30 days.

Sept 23: St. Bernard Avenue (N. Rampart - Sere): Pavement patching in the southbound lane from N. Prieur to N. Johnson is underway. Crews are also placing median ramps near Paris intersection. Gentilly Boulevard (Paris - N. Broad): Paving of the high lanes, in each direction, from Treasure to Laharpe is underway.

Sept 17: Paving continues on St. Bernard Avenue between N. Rampart and Claiborne. Water leak at Gentilly and Fortin has been repaired by Sewerage and Water Board. Crews are now patching the area and installing ADA compliant ramps. Paving on Gentilly (Paris - N. Broad) to begin next week.

Sept 9:  Paving of high and low lanes and turn-outs continue this week between Broad and Sere on St. Bernard Avenue. Paving between N. Rampart and Claiborne to follow.  Sewerage and Water Board crews to continue repairs to the waterline leak at the Fortin and Gentilly intersection.

ADA ramp installation continues, proto be complete by Friday, August 9.

Jul 25: Gentilly Boulevard (Paris - Broad): Crews will resume cold milling operations on Wed, July 31 after the SWBNO waterline replacement is complete at the 1600 and 1800 blocks.

Jul 19: Crews are installing inlet protection at the catch basins of St. Bernard and Gentilly. The inlet protection is used  for erosion control.  Please do not interfere with the inlet protectors; otherwise, construction debris will clog the drains.  

Jul 17: Crews are excavating and installing ADA ramps at street corners along low lanes of Gentilly and St. Bernard. 

Jul 9: Roadway patching, bus pad, curb repairs, stone curb resetting and ADA ramp installation continue on St. Bernard Ave. Manholes and catch basins are also being adjusted to what will be the final asphalt elevation. Cold milling is tentatively scheduled to resume and be completed next week on Gentilly Blvd; roadway patching and curb repair have begun; ADA ramp installation continues.

Jun 20: St. Bernard Avenue: Pavement patches are being excavated. Concrete pouring to begin Friday or Monday between Claiborne and Broad in the northbound and southbound lanes. Installation of ADA ramps continue. Gentilly Boulevard: Crews begin saw-cutting, excavating, and forming ADAramps. Concrete pouring projected to start early next week. Cold milling is complete on the northbound roadway andits turnouts. Milling of the southbound lane and its turnouts will begin following the completion of the S&WB’s waterline repairs.

Jun18: Cold milling continues on the northbound median lane on Gentilly Blvd. Crews are also saw cutting and excavating ramps at sidewalk corners.

Jun 13: Cold milling on St. Bernard Avenue from N. Rampart to N. Broad is complete, turnouts and crossovers included. The installation of ADA ramps and milling operations on St. Bernard will continue tomorrow from N. Broad to Desaix. Crews will begin cold milling operations on Gentilly Boulevard from Paris Avenue to N. Broad on Saturday, June 15. * Weather and unforeseen events pending.

Dec 11: The installation of bike symbols and signage is underway on Esplanade and City Park.

Dec 3: Installation of bike signage has begun. Crews will return to Esplanade and City Park to install bike symbols on Friday, Dec 6 or Monday Dec 9.

Dec 2: Crews will return to City Park and Esplanade this month to install bike symbols and arrows. The installation will occur after the striping of Basin Street between N. Claiborne and Canal is complete.

Aug 27: The city and state are ironing out details for the installation of bike symbols. A supplemental agreement has been established, funding is in place, but must be transferred to the appropriate subgroups. An installation date is yet to be determined. Efforts are being made to expedite the process. 

Jul 31: Bike symbols are an enhancement to the Paths to Progress program. Bike symbols were scheduled to be installed by July; however, a supplemental agreement had to take place prior to the installation. As soon as the local government established funding, bike symbols were ordered. The contractor will install the symbols as soon as the order is received.

Jun 28: Permanent striping on City Park & Esplanade is complete. Bike symbols and signage installations to be complete within 2 weeks.

Jun 24: DOTD District Administrator Michael Stack is joined by state and local officials to celebrate completion of the City Park & Esplanade project  at the ribbon-cutting ceremony held at Cabrini High School.

Jun 21: Ribbon-Cutting ceremony meeting to be held on Monday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Cabrini High School Alumnae Hall to celebrate the project completion.

April 8: City Park Avenue: Paving will begin tomorrow (Tues) starting with the inside lane at I-10 paving towards Orleans and then Orleans back to I-10. Esplanade: Milling operations continue between Moss and Broad.

April 4: City Park Avenue: Contractor will begin paving next Tuesday, April 9. Work will begin at the Canal St end of the project and proceed east towards Orleans Ave. The contractor will turn the paver around and return to Canal St.

This will affect the City Park Ave/Canal St-Canal Blvd intersection twice on that day. There will be times when thru traffic will not be allowed to cross the newly placed asphalt at the Canal St–Canal Blvd intersection. Right turns will be the only movement allowed.

April 3: City Park Avenue: ADA ramp installation still in progress; paving scheduled to begin Friday, April 5. Esplanade: ADA ramp installation still in progress; milling operations in progress from Moss to Broad starting in parking lanes working towards neutral ground.

March 29: Esplanade Avenue Crescent City Classic update: barricades and cones have been pulled back to the curb and both travel lanes opened today for tomorrow's race. On Monday, April 1, the lane closure will be reinstalled to begin construction on Tuesday, April 2.

March 26: City Park Avenue: Contractor to begin March 27 milling of roadway eastbound from the railroad tracks to Orleans Avenue; expected to be completed by March 28. Esplanade: ADA ramp installations and pavement patching continues; outside lanes only.

Filmore (West End - Canal): High lanes are open to traffic between West End and Milne. Tomorrow morning, crews to switch traffic to the low lanes. Only the eastbound is open to traffic between Milne and Canal. Crews are working on the right roadway on pavement repairs, ADA ramps & curb.

Roosevelt (Napoleon - Veterans): Southbound lane remains closed and traffic detoured to the next major roadway, Williams Blvd. The northbound lane remains open to traffic.

Oct 21: Today, crews begin panel replacements and curb repairs on Roosevelt Blvd (W. Metairie - Veterans). The following road closures and detour will be in effect. Roosevelt (W. Metairie - Napoleon): High side lane (median side) to close northbound and southbound. Low lanes to remain open. Roosevelt (Napoleon - Veterans): Southbound lane to close and detour. Northbound lane to remain open.

Oct 14: Additional work will be performed on Roosevelt Boulevard between W. Metairie and Veterans starting the week of October 21st or soon after. This work will require periodic lane closures; yet, one lane in each direction will remain open throughout construction. Repairs include curb repair and panel replacements. Work is expected to last 45 calendar days. 

Jun 18: Crews reached substantial completion of project on Monday, June 17. Striping continues and will be completed within 30 days.

Jun 3: W. Metairie Ave: Crews begin paving eastbound lane of West Metairie Avenue. One travel lane will remain open at all times. Traffic will switch to the low eastbound lane when the asphalt has cooled. Paving the eastbound lane will continue tomorrow.

December 11

The 800 and 900 blocks of Royal Street sidewalks were not removed and replaced due to safety hazards with shallow electrical conduits. Entergy representatives reported the existing conduits in these blocks immediately below the existing concrete sidewalk.

Through the use of alternative methods of concrete removal and coordinating closely with Entergy, it has been determined there will be additional sidewalk removal and replacement in the 800 and 900 blocks of Royal Street.

The contractor will engage the services of a utility locator and Entergy. Once the conduit location is determined, the concrete sidewalk will be removed and replaced and the stone curb reset, where possible.

The areas of sidewalk marked with white arrows will be removed and replaced beginning Wednesday, December 12.

 · In areas of sidewalk that Paths to Progress removes and replaces where a termite trap was located, the contractor will core the sidewalks at the spacing and location per the current standards. These standards are 18” from the property and 10’ spacing.

 · The property owner will be notified and need to contact their termite bait service provider for re-installation of bait traps. (Letters have begun distribution.)

 

Manhole Covers

  · Manholes will be adjusted as needed during and following overlay operations. The covers may get covered by asphalt, but will be cleaned and/or replaced as necessary at the end of the project.

 

Street Light Foundation

  · Existing street light post foundations affected by sidewalk construction will remain in place or be reinstalled as necessary

 

Vibrations

 · This is monitored during the milling process and vibrations measured to adhere to federal standards

 

Street Name Tiles

 · Street name tiles will be installed per standard plans. Any installed not meeting these standards will be corrected before the project is complete.

 

Project clean-up

Due to shallow electrical lines, various sidewalk areas of Burgundy were originally not scheduled to be removed for safety precautions. Due to cooperation and coordination with Entergy, we were able to determine many of them can be removed and replaced in a safe manner.

Starting today, Burgundy beginning at Canal St., will begin the additional sidewalk removal and replacement. The roadway will not be closed, but No Parking signs in the area will be posted. There may be intermittent closures for brief periods of time while the larger construction equipment is in the area.

The closure on Decatur has shifted up two blocks. The closure on Decatur is now from St. Peter to Dumaine. All other closures remain. 

 

September 6 

Due to pavement patching, the Ursuline intersection at Burgundy will require a temporary detour on Ursuline at Dauphine to Dumaine. 

 

September 5 

Road/lane closures during construction hours of 5AM-7PM due to pavement patching and sidewalk repairs: 

- As of this morning, Burgundy from Toulouse to Dumaine is open. Today, Burgundy is closed from Dumaine to Barracks. 

- Royal from St. Ann to St. Louis closure. 

- Decatur from St. Louis to Dumaine, riverside lane closure. 

- Esplanade N. Rampart bound: parking lane closure from Royal to N Rampart. 

- Esplanade N. Peters bound: parking lane closure from N Rampart to Royal. 

*Esplanade/Bourbon St intersection, from Barracks to Esplanade is currently closed due to a roadway patch on Esplanade Ave. There may be periodic travel lane closures due to the movement of construction equipment. A flag man is on-site to direct traffic.
